Tapes and adhesives

These are items we keep on hands for immediate shipment to you.

  All the above tape is doublefaced.  That means that it is sticky on both sides.  It has a backing that must be peeled off.  Quite often customers receive this tape and think we have sent them the wrong thing.  It's a little hard to get it to start peeling, but it is certainly sticky on both sides once the backing is removed.

It seems to me that tape is the most common means of attachment.  A lot of people start out with a very long term adhesive, but over time they always seem to want something that will allow them to take the piece off at night.

We suggest that you use front tape strips, even if you use bondingadhesives on the rest of the piece.

 
Soft bond adhesive reminds me of rubber cement,  powerful. It stays extremely soft.  If your hairpiece has PU around the edges you can apply this adhesive directly to the hairpiece since it cleans up quite well with solvent.  It's manufacturer claims that it will keep your hairpiece attached for as much as a month. I personally like this product since it is easily removed and cleaned up with most any of the citrus solvents.  It is somewhat thicker and easier to handle.  It is $32.50 for a three ounce bottle


Hard bond adhesive is the ultimate in medical grade adhesives.  Nothing lasts longer or holds better.  It reminds me of super glue.    This adhesive must not be put directly on the hairpiece.  If you do, you'll never get the piece cleaned up.  Protect the piece with single-sided PAT tape first.  You must have a professional stylist or barber to apply this product for you.  Hard bond should be kept frozen and wrapped in aluminum foil to protect it from premature hardening.  It is $40 for a 1oz bottle.  This is enough to attach your hairpiece several times.   

You'll probably need hard bondsolvent . It's $6 per bottle

I know of several people who used a very permanent adhesive to attach their hairpiece, and then decided that they could not psychologically handle having something permanently attached.  I strongly suggest first timers use a less permanent method of attachment, such as the double-faced tape above.  

Hard bond must not be put directly onto the hairpiece. You must first protect the hairpiece with  P.A.T. tape. (permanent attachment tape).    This tape is sticky on one side only. The sticky side goes toward the hairpiece.  The double faced tape won't work for this.We can sell you 108 inches for $6.  Some people even use the PAT tape for latex adhesive to make clean-up easier.
